Weekly Photo Challenge: Work of Art

“When someone says “art,” they often use it as shorthand for “paintings and sculptures.” Art is everywhere, though: in nature, in architecture, in literature, and more. It’s anywhere we see beauty and meaning.:

“This week, share a photo of something that’s art to you.” -Michelle W.

Architecture, to me, is an art that constantly challenges the creativity of the human mind. So, here is art to me:

Okay, Dubai.. you won. You have the most beautiful, if not the craziest, building designs in the world. Now, it’s time for you to settle down and make sure you are not building “white elephants”.

Yes, this building in Dubai is simply amazing, stunning and breathtaking. It makes one wonder how in the world can someone conceive of a building whose design is curled or twisted all over, except probably, the ground floor and uppermost floors. And come to think of it: any design is possible from the architectural point of view but it is a different matter altogether when it comes to the structural soundness of the building. But the fact that is standing and did not crumble down is a testimony that it is structurally sound!

Oh, thou art work of art. Please convince me that the one who designed you was not drunk when he did this one 🙂

I hope to write for a cause someday but for now all I wanted really is to write for a cost and I haven't started yet, or better still, nobody wants to pay me :-)

  1. Did you see this on my FB Maxim? I think it is an amazing feat of architecture but many people thought it over the top. Thanks for sharing! Sheri
